Luxury & Elegance, Purity, Durability

  • For those who seek Luxury and Elegance, linen has been the fabric of choice by Kings and Queens, Emperors and Pharaohs for thousands of years. Royalty chose fabric woven from the linen yarn not only because of its beauty, elegance, and comfort, but also for its luxurious softness on the skin. Royalty even decreed that linen was, by law, to be made available only to the Royal Family, and weavers of linen had to be approved by the King himself! Our Linen is some of the best linen to be found in the world! Our flax is grown in Lithuania and Belgium where climate and soil come together to create the perfect environment for growing flax, enabling the flax to grow tall and healthy, creating long, smooth, strong fibers from which our yarn is spun.
  • For those seeking Pureness of Fiber and Quality, whether because of philosophy or health concerns, our Linen has the European Masters of Linen certification. The Masters of Linen certification requires its mills to maintain rigorous standards ranging from selection of the best varieties of flax, to the concern for ecological cultivation and processing with great care being taken for the environment.   Europe currently has the most rigid standards in place to obtain the Masters of Linen certification, with little or no use of chemicals in processing the flax into yarn. The materials used in the process of the linen are often re-utilized. The United States lags behind with its confusion about the definition of the term ‘organic’. The United States also does not place the same strict controls on the manufacturing process, which can result in a product that may have ‘organic’ ingredients, but is manufactured through a very wasteful process, still resulting in a product with a large carbon footprint. With the Masters of Linen label you can be sure of high quality product produced in a very eco-conscious way.
  • For those concerned with Linen‘s Durability and how it will hold up under use, Linen is a veritable WORKHORSE of a fiber!! There are boundless studies showing the strength of Linen when wet:  Linen increases about 20% in strength when wet resulting in a stronger fabric in the washing machine, which in turn results in great longevity than say, cotton. Dry Linen has the tensile strength twice that of cotton and 3 times that of wool! Linen is 5 times more resistant to rubbing than cotton. It will easily outlast cottons and wools. Is it any wonder then that those Linen items such as towels and tablecloths that have been passed down from generation to generation still look so good?! For more Facts about Linen check here . . .
